L/O:To identify the target audience using demographics and psychographics
The Lego movie targets a family audience.
That could be split into the following three groups...

*Parents who played with it when they were young too - Nostalgia, parents/adults might get nostalgia of childhood memories when they used to play with and like lego, an example of this is benny the 80s space ship guy, another example is the intertextuality such as the references to the matrix which appeals to adults,as a lot of adults have seen the matrix.
*Young adult cinema goers - It could also bring back childhood memories/nostalgia, their is humour in the film for them, there is famous actors that young adults will know such as Chris Pratt and Will Ferrel.

Target Audience May 9th 2018
Intertextuality May 18th 2018
L/O: To explore the intertextuality of the lego movie
Both the lego movie and the matrix are in fake world, or a world in a world.Morpheus is similar to Vitruvius as he tells Neo (who is similar to emmet in the lego movie) he is the special one, Trinity is similar to wild style as she helps Neo and falls in love with him, (which is like in lego movie where wild style helps and falls in love with emmet). The main agent is similar to lord business as he hates the world he is in/ creates and he wants to stop Neo saving morpheus and saving the world.
A main theme or message of the film is to always believe in yourself and never give up.
Exam Practice Question:

* Story line that works just altered.
* brings up the similar themes and messages that were in matrix.
* as well as having nostalgia of lego to the parents the adults/parents will notice the similar storyline to the matrix.
cons:
* could be seen as a copycat
* dumbed down version i.e. no bad language no similar action scenes.
3. The lego movie lays foundations for future success as people will anticipate a sequel, they could possibly buy the DVD to re watch and show to relatives, and on a bigger scale it has strong female characters and gender equality, which appeals to a lot of people.
www.zesty.com:
1. The film has heart because it has an emotive storyline and explores different emotions such as love or friendship.
2. The film is about 'you' because in the film it differs from those who build and use their imagination and creativity and those who follow the instructions, which in real life this could link to those who lead and those who follow.

Synergy - Synergy is when one product is used to sell another and vice versa.
Merchandise that lego released with lego movie:

What factors make the writers feel the lego movie campaign was so successful?
www.gaurdian.com:
1. The building blocks of success is when the brand creates something useful or entertaining targeted at a certain audience that will make the person in that target audience pay for the company services or products. In the lego movies case it was different as they had to make it appealing to not only kids but to adults as it is the adults that pay for the kid to see the movie, and the adults don't want to be watching a boring movie therefore there main challenge was to make it appealing to multiple target audiences.
2. Lego did many things right, for example they use their imagination for the movie to be creative and funny, then they also use nostalgia well. For example decades ago the children parents played with lego giving them feelings of nostalgia, for example benny the space ship guy is an old lego character parents could remember playing with. Overall it is enjoyable for both kids and adults and there is something for everything.

Poster campaign 13th June 2018
L/O: To explain the effectiveness of the campaign; to analyse using uses and gratification theory
Analysis of the game cover:
5 denotations:
*Male and female characters in the foreground
*A construction worker with the name tag emmet
*A female wearing black
*Theres a man in black with a cape on standing on a building
*Female with Multicoloured hair
5 connotations:
*An evil mastermind in the background
* Two characters (female and male, wyldstyle and emmet) who are the main characters.
*Emmet holding a spanner suggesting building is involved
*there is a guy standing on top of a building that could be either a super hero or villain.
*A construction worker wearing a name badge with the name Emmet suggesting he is called Emmet.
*there is a guy standing on top of a building that could be either a super hero or villain.
*A construction worker wearing a name badge with the name Emmet suggesting he is called Emmet.
Analysis of the movie poster:
The characters are running away from things that are chasing them that look evil, for example the guy that has flames coming out of his helmet, this connotes that they could be running way from danger and evil therefore linking to the genre conventions of action and adventure. The tag line, 'The story of nobody who saved everybody' also shows that the film is an action adventure film, because the film is an action adventure that appeals to a certain target audience, and the fact that the whole film is lego that appeals to another target audience.Analysis of the character posters:
Benny seems to be the funny character by his smile, he seems to be the character people will laugh at.
Vitruvius stereotypically looks like the wise old man that knows everything, you can tell this by his age, hair colour and long beard.
Lord business stereotypically looks like the villain by his evil grin and angry face, his outfit also looks quite evil.
Emmet looks like the ordinary person however he looks scared which could connote that something big has happened.
Wyldstyle looks like a stereotypical heroine with the colours she wears and her hair and makeup.
Put it all together 22nd June 2018
L/O: To explore exam style questions and how to answer them effectively
Who regulates types of media in the uk?
Exam Question?
Explain how an effective marketing campaign would exploit a range of media platforms...
A marketing campaign will exploit a range of media platforms like ; video games, TV and tie in merchandise/products to make more money, they use synergy to promote each other. For example the Lego movie released the Lego movie game before the movie, the movie promoted the game, and the game promoted the movie. This is because of the people that played the game and thought it was good, and wanted to see the movie, for example to see if the movie is good or not and see the game and movies similarities and differences.
